Students scoop many prizes during Seachtain na Gaeilge in St. Dominic's Secondary School, Ballyfermot
Staff and students both participated in an action packed Seachtain na Gaeilge in St. Dominic's Secondary School. The week started with table quizzes, bingo, art competitions, and treasure hunts. All classes participated in these activities while our Leaving Cert classes concentrated on preparation for their oral sa Ghaeilge after Easter. The highlights of the week were the Ceilis and the Bricfeasta Gaelach!!! On Friday morning, staff and students enjoyed a hearty Irish Breakfast of Sausages, Rashers, Pudding and Eggs!!! Great start to a day in school!!!
Principal Mary Daly who hails from Donegal and still teaches Gaeilge stated that ‘the students really enjoyed and participated in Seachtain na Gaeilge so much so that they would like to have Seachtain na Gaeilge every week!!!! She said ‘She would definitely consider it' She also extended mile buíochas to the Irish Department who organised the many events, their commitment is much appreciated
To close the week Heads Up provided information on the importance of Mental Health and Youth involvement in helping others to be mentally healthy.
Pop group Keywest entertained the students for the afternoon.Some 1st years were overheard saying as they left school for the weekend."That's the best week ever in school!"
While all of the above was going on the The Concern debating team prepared for their next debate as they are among the last 32 teams in the country.
