We are delighted to invite you to attend a workshop (see attached invitation) hosted by the Ballyfermot/Chapelizod Access Group on Friday 26th March. The workshop hopes to raise awareness of the extent to which poor disability access to the built environment directly impacts on the quality of life for people with disabilities and is a barrier to full participation in society. The Irish Wheelchair Association will make a presentation on their recently published Best Practice Access Guidelines, a tool developed to advocate for the development of new regulations on improved access standards. It has long been accepted that in order to adequately meet the needs of people with disabilities, buildings need to be designed beyond the minimum standards enshrined in Part M of current Building Regulations We will have copies of the IWA Guidelines available for attendees on the day and hope that they will prove to be a useful resource for your organisation.
